This journey is inspired by my family. To honor those who came before, all you who walk alongside me and those yet to become. The more I research, the more I learn about Kentucky history, my people and myself. And the more I want to share.
I begin here with my grandmothers. I knew them both. They were strong women, both farm wives, widows, mothers of numerous children and both wrote about their own lives, also.
Before me, a sea of resources entrusted to me from the family line, including written in their own hand, now shedding light on what I may never have known about their lives had I not started down this road.
And, the ever-present sense that time is the avenger.

I lived with her for some time, and I remember visiting your grandmother Fanny Dean Matthews in Nicholasville. In the book, my grandmother is Jessie Corman White. I have been researching family forever. How dedicated I am depends on life events and right now I’m in a “recreational” rather than “intense” phase, but I’d be happy to share what I have. Pleasant is on my Mother’s side.
